Distributed Power Africa to install solar panels in TotalEnergies service stations in Zimbabwe

Distributed Power Africa (DPA), has been selected as one of the energy companies contracted for the installation of solar power for TotalEnergies Zimbabwe service stations across the country.

DPA’s mandate in this project includes the custom design of the grid-tied solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, procurement of the equipment except for the PV panels which are free issued due to unique specification, and the installation of the proposed power solutions. DPA will also operate and maintain the solar systems on a maintenance agreement.

The company has been awarded 15 service stations to power. Among them Rusape, Avondale, Emerald Hill, Westgate and Chisipite which are already commissioned. Implementation for an additional 3 service stations in Victoria Falls, Kwekwe and Msasa is in progress, while the rest of the sites are undergoing a power needs assessment. The installation of solar panels is aimed at reducing the business’ total energy dependence on the grid or alternative energy sources like generators by 30%.

Divyajeet Mahajan, CEO, DPA Zimbabwe said, “We are excited that businesses are taking such big steps towards adopting renewable energy, and we look forward to a great collaboration with TotalEnergies Zimbabwe as we continue to work on the roll-out of solar power, which is an essential transition to new energies.”
